My nephew's grandfather died recently and left a Winchester mod 90 .22WRF to him.

I'd like to know more about this firearm please.

It needs some (well, a great deal) of TLC as it hasn;t been fired for a long time, the action is very stiff and the bore is - well I can;t see down the bore but I doubt it's too flash !

Firstly - can this rifle use .22 Long Rifle ammunition safely / successfully ?

If not, does anyone still sell .22WRF ammunition ?

Given that he action needs some work to get it all functioning again, and that I intend to refinish the stock I would love a set of schematics and / or a copy of the user manual for this rifle.

If you can point me to any other resources on the web that would help me, I'd be grateful for that too.

Winchester still makes the ammo, although finding someone who stocks it could be tough. It's the same diameter as the .22 Rimfire Magnum and a .22 Long Rifle may split on firing. The date of introduction was 1890.
