hi everyone. i just picked up my first gun. a brand new 1894 in 44mag. i took it to the range today to test her out. i must say after 60 rounds my shoulder hurts. but what a fun gun to shoot. can't wait to go pig hunting. anyways, i took it to the range and it was shooting high at 50yards. i adjusted and adjusted and was able to bring it down level with the target. the only problem was it was still shooting about 2.5-3 inches right. i had two others shoot it was similar results: level but right. any thoughts? how to i bring them to the right with adjustments? i couldn't figure it out. i dont exactly know what i was shooting but they were lighter than 240's. thanks for any feed back. great forum!

Welcome to the forum.

On a typical Marlin, assume you are using the factory iron sights, you'll have to drift the rear sight in the dovetail a bit in the direction you want the shots to go.

Don't use anything lighter than 240s, and don't use hollowpoints.

Good luck and have fun.

Your rear sight is probably a little right of center of the line of the bore. Use a plastic or brass drift, or even a short section of a wooden dowel, along with a hammer. Place the drift or dowel on the dove-tailed part of the rear sight base, and gently tap it with the hammer to move it to the left a little.

I usually mark the original location of the sight on the barrel with a pencil as a reference point, so if I go too far, I can easily move it back part way again. The pencil mark will easily wipe off after you're done.
