Are you starting back after a layoff or have you been shooting regular and just see your scores dropping? Trying diff. sights and making sure you have a clear view of the front sight by having a lens in your glasses that gives you that is about all we can do for our tered old eyes.

Your optometrist should be able to provide you with glasses for handgun shooting. Just be sure to insist that you want to focus on the FRONT SIGHT and NOT the target. My optometrist set my glasses up for the target and I had to return them. Neither one of us was happy.
Another fix may be one of the adjustable apertures that attach to your glasses either with a clamp on the frame or suction cup on the lens. Merit optical disk comes to mind although there are others.
Either approach should extend your handgun shooting years.

Get trifocals with the mid-range focus set to a foot beyond the front sight. That works for me. I tried progressive lenses and couldn't get adjusted to them.

Believe he is an eye doctor of some sort.
You might contact him and see if he has any other suggestions.

I have the same problem with inability of my eyes to shift focus from the distance to the front sight. I found that if I use my computer glasses, which have about a 1 diopter correction (1 meter focus) that works fine. Of course, the targets are no longer perfectly clear with them. If you are target shooting (Bullsye style) check with OK Webber, and Champion Shooter's Supply, and Champion's Choice and Bruno Shooting Supply or anyplace else that comes to mind that caters to target shooters. Maybe Sinclair International, too? There are lots of add-on corrective lenses that work with your regular glasses. The tri-focals are a good idea, and I may do that next.

My optician ground bifocals with the part for reading, (or sight aquisition) at the top of the lens and not the bottom. Works great! (she has done this for many LE officers) Give it a try :D
