Hey everbody....
Background...
I bought a Browning A-Bolt (new), in 30-06, and am planning a moose hunt next year.
After exhaustive research, i've come to choose between these two scopes (price range being the biggest factor)...
I've got a few questions about both scopes...
I seem to find cheaper pricing in Canada for the Bushnell.
The US seems to have access to more cheaper priced Burris' (especially on Ebay)..
Is this strictly a supply and demand issue?
I totally love the Ballistic Reticles on the Burris, but am also impressed by Bushnells "Rain Guard" pitch..
I'm leaning towards the Burris due to the reticles, but before i do, i'd like to know....
a) Should i worry about cheap priced Burris scopes (made in Phillipines for example)?
b) Is the Bushnell "Rain Guard" overhyped or does it actually work?
c) Any links to competitive priced Reliable chains/web catalogues??
Thanx so much...

Midway.com is a good place to look for scopes. Some good deals there at times. Both my Burris scopes are Full Field 2's. They are decent scopes for the price. Sightron and Bushnell Elite are two I am considering buying next. The new Weavers are pretty good too. I have a fixed K model on my latest .30-06. Good results so far with it.

I have 2 Bushnell scopes and will not buy another one. I had problems with both. Both were on the lower end(price)if you buy one I hope you have better luck than I did.Q :(

I'd be looking strictly at the Elites. I'd say the low end stuff is just like Simmons or Tasco low end scopes...you get what you pay for.
Between those 2 models, flip a coin. Both are quite good scopes.

i have two Elites (1-3200 and 1-4200) a sightron and a leupold. the elites are one fine scope, japan made and very bright glass. the rain gard feature is not some gimmic, it works and it works well. when you look for a true hunting scope for that hunt you will be doing in possibly unfavorable weather conditions the Elite series is nice to have. i would rather have the clear picture of the trophey of a lifetime on a rainy day than a extra half inch of eye relief. i have mine on top a 7mm rem mag and eye releif has never been a problem for me.

Please do yourself a big justice and purchase a NIKON or LEUPOLD....One word, WARRANTY!
Great scopes for the money and they hold up under extreme conditions period.

... a moose hunt next year... Bushnells "Rain Guard" ... overhyped or does it actually work?...
From my total lack of experience hunting moose, I don't think any other feature of any other scope will be as beneficial as RainGuard. You aren't likely to be shooting at ranges suitable to a ballistic-type reticle and mooses (meece?) are large targets! But rain is a real potential and the coating works. It can't prevent rain from hitting, but it sheds the drops well enough to shoot tru.
It's not reasonable to compare a $50 dollar scope of any brand to a $250+ Leupold. Bushnell's 3200 and 4200 scopes are as good, or much better, than anything in their price ranges.
Warranties are really important if you have a Leupold. That's the only brand I've ever had to return! :) I think Bushnell will honor their scopes warranty for a reasonable length of time unless it's damaged from misuse. I would be ashamed to ask anyone, even Leupold, to replace one 30 years old or that I had damaged by dropping on a rock.
