Has anyone shot or own one of these. I think that is the right number. It has a long cylinder to chamber .410 shells and colt 45's, either/or. Seems like it would make a great little snake gun in the summer. Any experience with this one?? thank you. Eric

Not yet but a buddy is looking at one in SS for boat camping and halibut fishing.

I've owned one for over a year now and shoot it often. My 44-Ten is the Stainless one with the 6.5" bbl.

My example is an excellent gun in every respect. Fit and finis ... excellent. Trigger ... excellent in both single and double action, just as good as my S&W 19-3. Accuracy with .45 Colt surprisingly good considering the huge jump from cyiinder to forcing cone. Groups 2.5" at 33 yards with forearms rested. I can hit a gallon milk jug at 60 yards 3 out of 5 shots.

With 00 Buck it'll put all four pellets in a 8 inch circle at 7 yards. It nicely explodes pumpkins with the double aught as well. I can attest that with #9 shotshells you can break clay pigeons if you get on 'em fast enough ... don't let 'em get beyond 25/30 yards and you'll break a fair number of 'em.

I think this is just about the best gun possible for home defense. Four .330 lead balls delivered COM at 950 fps has just gotta be devastating to the BG ... and there are 16 more just like 'em ready to go.

My wife keeps my gun loaded with double aught on her bedside table at all times it isn't with me out in the woods or at the range.

Hello. I just ordered a blued 4510TKR. Also known as The Judge. It is the 6 inch barrel that shoots 3" magnum shells. I'll let you know more when I get it.

THE ABOVE IS COMPLETELY WRONG. I just got off the phone with Taurus, and the information they gave last Monday is wrong! They are not even shipping the three inch magnum until later this year. BOTH Taurus and the distributor Ellott Brothers verified to me the three inch chamber model has been distributed and is available for me to purchase. So wrong, as per Taurus today, a week later. So they made me go through all the ordering, downpayment, excitement, etc. for naught.

I just ordered one also and I was wondering if it will safely fire the hot .45 LC rounds from Cor-Bon(http://www.hipowersandhandguns.com/Corbon%2045%20Colt%20DPX%20Test.htm)
and from Double Tap(http://www.doubletapammo.com/php/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=21_38&products_id=132)
?

The Dbl Tap seems like it would be way too hot for it besides the kick. Just was not sure the power these type of frame will safely handle.

I handload for the .45 Colt caliber. I regularly shoot 255 gr. LSWC bullets out of Starline brass at 1000 fps in my 44-Ten. It is just as tight after over 3000 rounds of that ammo as it was the day I bought it and shot some weenie cowboy loads in it.

It ain't a Ruger or Thompson Center, but it'll handle loads hotter than cowboy with aplomb. A 255 grain bullet at 1000 fps will pierce a deer sized animal end to end lengthwise smashing every bone it encounters on the way. What more does one need?

Dbl Tap loads his at a pressure of 25, 000. Here's the data:

Bullet : 335gr. WFNGC Harcast

Ballistics : 1300fps - 1258 ft./lbs. - 7.5" bbl.
1655fps from a 16.5" carbine

or

Bullet : 300gr. Controlled Expansion JHP

Ballistics : 1325fps - 1170 ft./lbs. - 7.5" bbl.
1688fps from a 16.5" carbine

or

Bullet : 255gr. Keith-Style SWC

Ballistics : 1450fps - 1191 ft./lbs. - 7.5" bbl.
1775fps from a 16.5" carbine

Those are some real hot loads. I just don't want a blown up gun and hand.

I can assure you the DoubleTap load is way too hot for a Taurus, Smith, Colt or any gun other than a Ruger, Freedom Arms. Thompson Center (possibly Dan wesson, I dunno) or a custom gun designed to handle that pressure or more.

DO NOT shoot that load in your Taurus.

Thanks, that was what I was thinking but I wanted to be sure.

My dealer has tried for over 6 months to get me a TKR 4510 SS with 3 in bbl that shoots the 3" mag with no luck. Has anyone actually got one yet and does any one know when they will be widely distributed. I also checked with the largest gun dealer in the state and he has not been able to get any either. Getting tired of the wait.

I want one but I was under the impression that it is illegal to be in possession of a shotgun with a barrel length of less than 18 inches. How does Taurus get away with this? Is this not considered a shotgun?

Under federal law, its not a shotgun because the barrel has rifling. They could still be illegal under some state or local laws.

I went ahead and got the Ultra-Lite in the 2 1/2" version and maybe will get the 3" in when it finally comes out. I called Taurus and they said they will not be shipped until early 2008. He said there had been delays but did not say what they were.

I really love the gun it is a nice do-it-all gun esp. on my 185 acre farm from small critters, snakes and up to,hopefully not, bear. I did a trigger job on it and the pull is way better. So far no snakes have been around for a real snake kill yet. It is fairly accurate in the .45 LC rounds for the extra head space it has.
