I'm looking for a rifle in 22 WMR -- the BEST I can get. I've gotten mixed recommendations, but looks like the best factory might be either SAKO or CZ's Varmint gun. I've also considered a thumb-hole stock for mine, which points toward building custom. (Ruger or CZ action possibly)

What or who would you recommend for action/trigger/match barrel and stock-work??? I'd love a set trigger, but don't know if there's one available for this caliber?

Please drop your thoughts in on the subject? I'm looking for 1moa @ 100 yds. (Why not shoot for the moon?)

ps: please hold any recommendation on alternate calibers, I live in special reg's area for rimfire/Bolt repeaters only and I like the wmr for a variety of reasons, but that's another thread...
THANKS!!!

I have a Ruger 10/22 magnum and a Winchester 9422M Legacy love them both.

My Ruger have a Volquartsen trigger group, and a 30mm tube 3-12x50mm World Class Scope awesome set up for what I wanted.

Could also consider https://www.volquartsen.com/vc//pages/public/ListFams.jsp?id=1

CZ would be tops for the money, but Anschutz would be tops over all.

I think the one MOA accuracy you seek will be hard to find in a factory rifle. My CZ 452 American in .22WMR never did better than 1 1/2 to 2" at 100 yards and I tried ever brand of ammo on the market. Actually a cheap Savage I had at the same time shot just as well and Marlins I've had in the past also shot as well as the CZ. I think it is just really tough to get .22WMRs to hold much under 2 MOA. My current BRNO-611 won't do better than about 2 1/2 MOA with best ammo. I accept that as OK for a hunting rifle because I doubt that I can hold any better from normal field positions, standing, sitting or kneeling.

I am truely suprised!! My A-bolt will shoot 3/4 inch groups @ 100 yards all day using CCI Maxi-mags. any other brand of ammo opens up to the 2" mark, so I don't use them. It makes a nice rifle for head shots on Yotes or Woodchucks.

Anschutz, CZ, Cooper, Ruger, Marlin, or Savage should all make a gun to fit the bill.

My top choice for the money would be the CZ.

I used to a own a Cooper 57LVT 17HMR and it would accomplish the 1 in groups you are wanting. But they are very expensive.

The Anschutz would probably shoot as good as the Cooper, but cost more than the CZ.

The CZ should shoot right close to the annie and the Cooper.

what about a suhl???

I'll try to post a photo soon. I went with a Savage 93-v series with heavy bbl. in stainless. I'm pretty happy with the looks of the thumbhole stock I got in pepper laminate from Boyd Gunstocks. I sanded it and shaped it a bit to fit my hand custom. Mounted a Bushnell scope, 4-16 x 40 with illuminated reticles green or red.

I liked it because they offer the 'Accu-Trigger' on it, that's adjustable, but I'm really not impressed by the low setting. It seems like a pretty good yank to fire the thing, and for long-range varmints I need a pretty light trigger I feel. Anybody know if the Accu-Trigger can be lowered further by a gunsmith? Email me if you'd prefer not to post? Thanks again.
