Anyone have experience with the Lee Classic auto-indexing turret press and Lee Lever Prime System? Looks like a great way to increase my reloading output at reasonable cost, but I would like to hear from anyone with experience with this press first. I generally like Lee dies and such, but I was less than impressed with the Lee powder measure and with a Lee 1000 progressive a friend had.
Thanks!

I recieved my new Red Classic Turret Press about 3-4 weeks ago, I listed my Orange Turret Press on e-bay today....
I don't care for priming cases when raising the handle on any press, orange, red, or green. I use Lee's little Reloader Press and Auto Prime II.
Have used Lee's Pro Auto Disk Powder Measure for years, check every 5th on a green digital, the orange #55 drum type measure spends most of its time in the drawer.
The Pro 1000.......Not enough holes in the turret.
Is the Lee Classic Turret Press as good as most users say it is.....E-Yup. I have found it to be a consistant and stable platform to screw anybodys 7/8-14 dies into. Unlike the umbrella type turret, there is little or no flex when sizing casings or seating bullets.
Enough said...Try one...You'll like it

Have you looked at Lee's demo videos online (http://leeprecision.com/html/HelpVideos/video.html)? You can get some idea here. I love the speed of my Dillon progressives, turning out a round with every stroke of the handle, but you do have to tune your brain to be alert to all the things they do simultaneously.

I wasn't ever really enamoured with the Lee 1000 but I think Bob likes it if Im remembering the right press.
I Bought the Lee Classic Turret last fall and installed an AutoDisk powder measure on top of the riser to charge cases and with the Micrometer charge bar it really works nicely. I got set up for .357 magnum and .45 Colt for $125 not including the dies which I already had. I'm going to order another Auto Disk, probably the Pro, so I dont have to dink with anything, just change a turret and let 'er rip.
That way, I'll be into the whole set to load two calibers for $140 by just swapping turrets.
I'm very very happy with the set up. Great tool, great price, makes buying premium bullets look even more economical! :D

I did look at the videos on-line, and I was quite impressed. It looks like I could load rifle calibers on this press as well. I have a Rockchucker press I've used for a great many years, and it works great, but it would be nice to be able to up my rate (especially before a pistol match), and to have all the dies on the turret instead of having to switch. I was looking at the Hornady Lock'nLoad, but this Lee is a whole lot less expensive.

The classic turret is a really nice press. Has a very large working area ( larger than my Rockchucker) and is quite solid. Similar to the older model but on steroids. The safety prime system works really well for me. So well in fact I no longer prime seperately. You never have to touch a primer and has good "feel" when you seat the primer. There isn't any slop in the linkage and the primer catcher doesn't miss. It does have a longer throw than the earlier model but thats because of the larger work area. But nowhere near as long as my ammomaster. I've had two other color turret presses and I think this one beats them both. It's smoother, faster, and like I mentioned above the priming system is better by far and the price is more than right. It's the last turret press I'll buy. Well..........I've never seen Lee take a step backwards, so we'll see what they come up with next..good luck with whatever you choose.. ;)

I stepped up to the Classis Cast Turret from a Lee Challenger Press. It makes for much faster reloads. With the lever prime it just takes a few strokes of the handle to load a complete handgun round.
I prefer to take out the auto index when loading for .30/06. With the auto index in I tend to catch the tip of the bullet as it indexes to the crimp stage. With it out you can lower the ram all the way down, then move the turret by hand.
