Opinions? I thinking about buying one. I know they aren't too expensive and they don't come with all of the bells and whistles but how reliable are they? I thinking about using one as a carry gun so reliability is important.

Unless S & W has come out with something I don't know about (entirely possible) the Sigma is a semi-automatic. I have a Sigma SW9VE that is totally dependable. The VE models are supposed to be much improved over the original Sigmas. It's accurate once you get used to the trigger pull which is about 8 to 10 lbs. In fact S & W says it's 12lbs but mine got a little easier after a little use. If you master trigger control on the Sigma it will make you a better shot. It's actually not a bad looking pistol, has great ergonomics and costs a little over $300.00 NIB.
I have the S & W MP in both full sized 40 caliber and the MP 9mm compact. Very good pistols! The reason I bought the MP's was because I liked my Sigma so much. Not a bad gun at all.

I've not replied to your post because I have not fired a Sigma. I have a new .40GVE that I dry fire and fondle, but need a break in the weather to take out and shoot. Feels great, two 14rd mags, I like everything about it so far, including the price. Good luck.
