In the early 60's I had a set of toy revolvers that fired spring powered plastic bullets from plastic cartridges. Now I'd like to find one for my gun collection. I was hoping someone out there could help me locate one. Any "old timers" out there remember these?

Have you tried ebay? They have a large selection of vintage capguns and perhaps you will find what you're looking for there.

Those were the Shootin Shells made by Mattel. There was a Fanner 50 version in a single action clone, a deringer with a belt buckle firing gadget, a single shot rolling block type rifle and a Winchester 73 that was really a single shot. Had those when I was a kid in the 50ties. They are worth a bit of money now. There was also a modern looking double action that looked like a snub 38. The bullets were spring loaded into the case and held in with 2 tabs. When you fired the hammer pushed the bullet in a ring in the chamber that releaed the tabs sending the bullet flying under spring pressure. The deringer would shoot the fartherest and the rifles just barely dribble the bullet out of the barrel. You can find them in the antique toy catalogs. I remember looking up the Fanner 50 and it was priced about 275.00 for an excellent condition gun.
