You need to ask yourself how much daybreak and dusk hunting your going to do and how much the added light gathering will help those situations. You will have to use higher scope ring mounts for the larger scope and how will that affect you stock weld, shouldering, carrying etc. Personally I don't believe the added cost and headaches justifies the dubious benifits.

I would personally stay away from the Buckmasters altogether after the experience my brother had with them. I believe he has the 3-9x40 version, but even on his, we had to go with super high Leupold rings because the eyebell is so large that it would hit the bolt on a Savage 110.
He also had the reticles come loose (crosshairs were about 30-45 degrees off), and this was just a 30-06 with about 20 rounds through it.
I still like Nikons, but I stick to the Monarch series. I would recommend that you just go with a 3-9x40 Monarch. On 3 power, it brings in enough light that I can see past legal hunting hours in decent weather.

I would recommend that you just go with a 3-9x40 Monarch. Buy the better nodel, you do not need a 50! Very few hunters need a 50 and they are bulky, I shoot with little light and my old eyes see with a 33
