I am looking at an SSK Contender in the 270 caliber. Can i purchase the 270 JDJ cartridge from a retailer? Is it different than a 270 win? I assume it us, i'm just not up to speed on the handgun scene. Also would you recommend another option for whitetails around the 150yrd range? Thanks in advance.

The .270 JDJ is a .225 Winchester case necked up to .270 (.277"). The .270 Winchester, and other .270 commercial (like the Weatherby) and wildcat cartridges are only available for the Encore, as their pressure is too high for a Contender.
