Has anyone ever fired one? How was the recoil? Will probably shoot it with 140grain bullets. Thanks

I have worked with a couple different 7mm-08 T/C Encores over the years. One was a Fox Ridge Outfitters )T/C's Custom Shop) 12" Stainless-Steel Barrel and the other was a Factory 15" Blued Barrel.
Both were more than accurate enough for Deer Hunting with most 5 shot groups at 100 yards from the bench at or under 1". Recoil was not bad at all with the 15" Barrel. Even though the 12" Barrel was Mag-na-Ported recoil was more than expected.
All in all for the guy wanting a good Deer Cartridge for the T/C Encore I think the 7mm-08 is a good choice.

PS, I had really good luck with 120gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips

I own one scoped XP-100 in 7mm-08, as well as one with iron sights in the original wildcat version, the 7mm/308, which is nearly identical. Over the years, I've also owned 3 rifles in 7mm-08, although I no longer own any of them.
All of these handguns and rifles have been very accurate, and I can highly recommend the cartridge. Some of mine have preferred the 139 Hornady Spire point; others preferred the 154 Hornady spire.
I've never owned a 7mm-08 Encore, but a good friend of mine has, and I have fired his. It's also accurate. Opinions will vary on recoil of course. I find it acceptable. I used to regularly shoot 40 shot (and occasionally 60 shot) matches, one handed from creedmore, with an iron sighted XP. The weight of a scope will obviously moderate recoil.
With my loads, I found H-4895 and Re-15 to perform very well.

I have a 7mm-08 15 inch barrell, I like the gun. I dont reload so I had to try several different brands of ammo to try to get it to shoot right. I finally got the Remington 140 grain premiere accutip bullets to shoot the best. I can shoot 1inch groups at 65 yards. My advice would be to buy 1 box of each of the different loads and shoot each one until you find what is best. Once you find the best one go ahead and shoot the other boxes just to gtry to get used to the recoil it isn't that bad but this will get you used to the recoil. My next barrell will be the 45-410.

I shoot a 7-08 in a S/S encore it has a 16.5 in. barrel with a brake and it shoots fine. Recoil is not really an issue with it the barrel is a bullberry in heavy varmint .840 at the muzzel and it's long enough that it's weight helps out. It shoots 140 gr. best at MOA are less at 100 yds.

The 7-08 is a great cartridge in a SP. My first XP was chambered in 7-08 (14" barrel).
140 NBT's with H-4895 made a very accurate combo.

If loading the 120 NBT is a good one also.
I shoot one chambered for the .260 Remington. I typically use 140gr bullets for target work, so I think we are basically talking about the same thing. I cut my ssp teeth on a 7mm TC/U and a 7 BR near to 20 years ago. Compared to the two aforementioned rounds the .260 shows a increase in recoil, but is in no way severe or uncomfortable in my experience. I would not worry about the recoil.
I had my 7 BR rechambered to .284 Win, this was in an XP, and the recoil was pretty severe with the heavier bullets...there seems to be a pretty big difference in recoil with the '06 based cases (or cases of similar capacity) in a handgun as compared to the very efficient .308 based rounds.
It seems to me, somewhat unreasonably so, that my 6lb 7-08 scoped rifle (Kimber Big Sky) produces more objectionable recoil than my .260 handgun. I realize the velocity is lower, and the weight is small bit less, but the perceived recoil is very much different.
