Stopped by one of my favorite "small but big"gunshops on the way home and lo and behold they had newly packaged Speer bullets(for reloading). They were called Deep-Shok and were packaged in black plastic boxes with a picture of a Mule Deer on the front with a cross section of the bullet. No way that core will ever come out. They had a boat-tail with cannelure and a crimping groove below that. The jacket was as long as the lead but the nose was a lot sharper than a Grand Slam. The side of the box says(in short form)

Compound profile fluted jacket for reliable controlled expansion

Boat Tail design for higher BC

Exclusive Hot-Cor process

Large heel lock for higher retained weight

They look good.I bought a box of 165 and 180gr 308s.Hope they shoot as good as they look.

I have loaded some Speer Hot Cor 165 grain spitzer for .308. They shoot really well and appear to be a good design for hunting. I have not had a chance to try them on game yet but I hope to change that next deer season.

I bought some of them too; about three years ago.
Then they disappeared from the shelves in our stores, no more to be seen. I wonder what gives?
