Many years ago, had given thoughts towards a woods loafing/trapline .22 Ruger Single Six .22LR/.22 Magnum revolver.

But, not all that fond of having to haul around 2 cylinders to change out in the field, or having the .22 LR cylinder in place when the .22 Magnum round may be preferred.

I'd thought of the setup of rechambering 2 of the .22 LR chambers to .22 magnum. This would allow the carrying of one cylinder in the field, loaded with 4 .22 LR rounds and 2 .22 magnum rounds (with these 2 chambers clearly marked on the outside of the cylinder for proper indexing, when wanted).

The dual cylinder Single Six .22's have the correct barrel bore sized for each round, so the barrel should not be a problem?

Any thoughts on whether this setup might be workable?

thanks all, Bear

You could almost certainly get a cylinder to work like that, but what do you shoot that needs to be so precisely defined? Seems like a .22 mag could do all you want, if that's the power level you need, without being too much for anything smaller. An interesting idea, but it sounds like extra complexity for minimal gain. Unless, of course, you just want to do something unique with your gun. :-)
