I have a Lee Classic Turret Press and I like it. A lot. I updated from the earlier turret. I liked it but I had two minor annoyances with it; one I had to hand align my 45 Colt brass to resize. I tried about 3 or 4 different shell holders. Didn't help. It was liveable. Two, the index came up about a quarter inch(ma;ybe a bit less), but I had to index it manually. I got so I'd give it a good fast rotaion on the upstroke and most of the time it would index ok, but not all.
Now on to the Classic. It works fine except for the index. It does the same thing as my old one.
Question: do any of you Classic Turret users ever experience this?
If not how do you operate yours?
I'm not trying to diss it or anything, I like it. But, I sure wished it would index ok.

Go to Lee's Web Site and look for their technical videos. Somebody here just posted it recently. You will find one on how to adjust your press and it works!

My classic cast has never missed a beat. If everything is tight, and oiled, I don't see how it could? If you are still having problems, call Lee, and they will walk you through it.

well, as the kids today might say....my bad!!!!!
I called my buddy that has hi speed and got him to watch the video. Fixed.
Why don't they put that in the "Set up instructions"???
I've gone about 3 years with this syndrome. First with the old one and with the Classic. Now with about 3 minutes worth of info ..... fixed!!!!

I have always worked one stage at a time and feel it is fast enough and better controlled. The turrets are great for keeping each set of dies set up and ready to go and can be kept in the round plastic storage containers with a label on the outside for each caliber.

When I first started using my Lee Turret Press I used the Auto index feature all the time for reloading my pistol rounds. Since then I have also moved into reloading for my 30-30 and 45-70 and you can not use the auto index when loading for these. I have found that now I don't even use the auto index for my pistol rounds. I find it very convenient to be able to rotate my turrets in either direction if I want to or just leave it in one position for more than one stoke of the press. I have found that I prefer the freedom of manual indexing rather than having the press do it for me.

Jake,
Most libraries have high speed internet access now for research purposes. Access the Lee site at the library and view the video.

I use my Auto-Index on my turret press all the time for both pistol and rifle cartridges. Rifle cartridges must have an OAL of 2.312" or shorter. Here is a clip of the Lee FAQ that will correct the indexing problems. You don't need high-speed to look at the FAQ's.

The Classic Turret has a learning curve like any other tool. Mine indexed just fine, until the one time I pulled a little to fast going into the seater die and over indexed it. I've got a 158 grain .357 bullet driven so deep into the case now as a reminder to use less power and more technique.
