I'm looking at another lever action and not sure if I should go for a .32 Special or a .35 Rem. There is a .30/30 in my rack but I have yet to kill a deer with it. I think the folks here can furnish me with some good recommendations. My goal is to acquire an older Marlin. Thanks for your help.

I'm not a Marlin expert but I think you'll have to be happy with the .35 rem which is a great one. I don't think Marlins came in .32 special. For that you might have to go to a winchester but once again I'm not a Marlin expert.

Just picked up a 35 Rem for my dad and have been working loads for it. Great little gun, little recoil and fun to shoot.

Marlin did chamber the .32 Special at one time, but it's been a while since they did. Winchester dropped it about 20 years ago too. The .35 Remington is a good cartridge. I just don't shoot mine enough, but that applies to the rest of my guns too.

I've got both chambered in the 336. Even though the 32 WS is no longer chambered, brass is plentiful or at least I haven't had problems finding it.

The .35 Rem is a great cartridge, and the .32 WS is at least as good as the .30-30 -- which is plenty good. If I were going to choose between the two, I believe I'd go with the .35 simply from the fact that factory ammo (available at WalMart) and reloading components are easier to get ahold of.
You allready have a good deer gun in the 30/30. Kill a dear with it first befor you retire it. I personly would skip the
35. cal and either go with the new 308 marlin, even better yet
since you have a great deer cal in the 30/30/, go with one of the big bore marlins in 444, 450,or 45/70. then your coverd
for pretty much for all north american big game. good luck.
