I really enjoyed the original Saeco company that was started in 1947 by Bob Modisette a WW2 Veteran and prewar rifle competitor who bought the Cramer Co. the main competitor of H&G Molds and Bob next bought the Santa Anita Engineering Co SAECO and moved it up the coast next to the ocean of Carpenteria Ca. Where I camped at the beach and walked across the RR tracks to the Saeco shop. I studied every machininng proceedure, helped mix the secret green bullet lube, picked thru Cramer bullet cherries from the back room storage and modified them to suit me all with bevel bases and better noses to feed reliably in all 1911's and helped make up my own bullet designs and orders, heat treated them and I only sold 4 cavities with beautiful picked out patterned walnut wood handles and sold the majority of the Saeco Mold production to my Fitz Pistol Grip customers worldwide.

The original Saeco molds were made of a hard to obtain special alloy of Meehanite Cast Iron that would never crack or warp no matter the temperature and the molds cast 4 identical weight bullets. I loved selling the Saeco molds util Bob Died and the business was sold to a man who drastically cheapened the mold quality so I quit and retired.

I enjoy promoting bulletcasting, reloading and being a mentor promoting the pistol shooting sports.

Mr Jones, I think you opened one of the loading docks of that Carpenteria facility for me back in the late '70s whereas I purchased a mold of which I still think I have. Tho I haven't cast anything from that mold in several years it is still my favorite. Tho I have since removed my self from competition target shooting, I still hunt and bring home the occasional wapiti using bullets cast from the Saeco mold(of which I still have an ample supply). If I remember correctly I was in the Carpenteria facility very shortly after the owner passed. I am pleased you are here as you have likely forgotten more fierarms related stuff than most here will ever know. Chief
