Hello all,
I discovered this place when searching for forums on single shot rifles. Lots of good info there. I see there are many other topics also. I have been "collecting" some inexpensive military rifles, but have my first re acquisition of a Ruger #1 inbound.
Seems like a great place, and I look forward to participating, in between the rest of life.
I am an engraver, of guns, jewelry, etc. Plenty busy, but will answer any questions, if there are any.
Hope to talk to you all soon,
Tom

Thanks for the welcome!
I have a #1H in .375 H&H on the way. Unforseen circumstances have me going on a Bison hunt next fall, and I wanted something appropriate to take with me.
I have owned #1's in the past, a 243 1A, a 300 Win Mag 1B, and a 30/06 RSI. They all went away, to support various other purchases, like tools for gunsmithing school, groceries, etc. I miss them all, esp. the 243. It was an older one, and had nice wood. I like that look the best too. My next one will likely be a 1A in '06. I like sights, and the slimmer fore-end.
Take care,
Tom

Engravertom,
Welcome to the forum. If you've been lurking, you'll know the rules are to be polite and not post anything you'd be embarrased to have to explain to an eight-year-old.
I don't know of anyone else doing engraving who is on the board? Quite a number of us here have some machine shop and gunsmithing experience, and a few have been gun builders professionally or worked in the shooting industry. Enjoy your time here. We look forward to your contributions.

Welcome aboard Engravertom! I think you will like the forum; for it is one of the most informative and "civil" ones around  . I've looked at a couple of No 1H's in the .375 H&H and everytime walking away wishing I had purchased it. I have a "Three Seven Five" in a "bolt", but it does not handle as well as the No 1 or look as good. I've got a lot of reloading data for the cartridge that I'm always willing to share (as I'm sure a lot of other members do). I've owned several No 1's, but the only one on hand currently is a Rocky Mountain Elk edition (1998) in a .270 Weatherby. Yours will be much more versatile. You'll have to show us some pictures. As I have an 8 year old, as well as a 12 year old, 6 year old, 5 year old, and an almost 2 year old, I will try and behave!
Thanks for the offer on the loads. I guess I will jump over to an appropriate forum and ask for some input there.
I started gunsmithing school, but ended up more on the engraving end, and that's where I am now.
I don't want to look pushy, or toot my own horn, so unless I do something related to one of my own guns, I won't talk about engraving much, unless folks ask.
Talk to you all later!
Tom

I don't think anyone else here does engraving. Feel free to post a few pictures.
