I'm a big fan of the Colt Government model but this gun just feels right in my hand. With change-grips this should be true for anyone. For a relatively new comer the M&P is quickly gaining popularity as a reliable and combat accurate handgun. With a polymer base, stainless black action and a 15 round magazines it can certainly be classified as a working pistol. If you get the chance shoot one of these before deciding, with some judicious shopping you can buy these new for < $450.

Meant to post this as a reply to the "Combat Handgun Thread"

That was the one, however after reading the original post, I see he was speaking of an SA not a DAO. Please update your posting rules to include "no posting prior to your first cup of coffee."

Done :p

No harm.... we'll leave this one to stand on it's own, then.

the PD i used to work for got the M&P .40 right before I left. I never got to shoot one, but everyone had the same comment..."it is the smoothest shooting DAO they had ever shot". only 2 of them said that it was second to the DAO 1911's.

This is just a general endorsement of the S&W M&P 40. I love mine. Great shooting gun. No misfeeds or misfires, even with cheap ammo.
