i am spurred to conduct the inquiry because i'm tired of all day drives to Orygun in order to hunt pigs; even tho i just returned home with the carcass of a 700# hog, it's a long haul for ham! so i continue to hope to find someone with knowlege of evergreen state porkers.

Pigs in Oregon???
I thought this was another urban myth, right up there with Bigfoot!!!
Seriously, I've lived here in Oregon long enough to have talked to some longtime resident hunters who say pigs don't exist here.
Care to share?

Send me a PM if you want to keep it hush-hush :D

No kidding!
And I thought the 300-350# pigs we used to get in Cali were big...

being uneducated in the way of the camera, i don't use one, luckily, a hunting partner did and if someone can post it, i can e-mail it to you. i was hunting a ranch in north central orygon, quite a large place and if you read John Taffins works, he frequently mentions it. i and my two companions bagged two hampshire/russian boar crosses, both over 700 and a young bison.
another hunting/shooting friend is exploring rumors of russians in the eastern part of the Ochoco NF.

I've hunted some in SW Wash and know guys who have hunted it all their lives. Never heard mention of hogs around here...but then again, I never asked.

Can I jump in to ask about hogs in ID? I'm from southeastern WA and don't know a thing about ID's potential for hogs. Sure would like some ham from the .45-70, though!

i grew up halfway between spokane and worley and never heard of wild hogs in that area; a friend from the tri-cities who has land outside of walla walla never mentioned piggies either. :(

Yeah, I used to live between the Tri-Cities and Spokane, and never saw nor heard of any there.

Heard of a guy over toward Shoshone who had a hog hunt once long ago, but they were ones he brought in and had fenced.

Are these Oregon Hogs on Private property or public? I can be in Central Or. in 2 or 3 hours, 4 at the most and would love to hunt hogs, I never have.

I heard about hogs here in Southern ID. 20 years ago or so. I spent hours and hours looking and couldn't find a track.
I was never 100% sure but think I was snipe hunting. "KnowwhatImean Vern".

I never told anyone before that I even went and looked. I enjoyed exploring new areas at the very least, and ened up getting deer and one elk close to there.

I live here in Orygun. You can type in wild hogs on the search engine and it will lead you to 5 major areas of pig populations in this state. I have not chased them down yet, but plan to this fall. If I run into them, I'll let you all know about it. Good Shootin'

Fatboy....
acouple years ago, the hogs were found in Grays Harbor County area supposedly around Montesano...Since I dont hunt them, I cannot absolutely assure the correctness of that but the
word is (or was) that there were plenty of them and supposedly no license, no season...might check with Region 6 office of WDFW....

A few years ago the Washington dept of fish and game had a news release about pig damaging state and pvt. land. then later there were several articles about pigs not being a game animal in the state and there for being open year around for hunting, You should be able to contact them and get location.
