For me, it was the 1950s hands down; I was a teenager in the 50s and had a lot of fun. Next was the 1980s, it was the closest we came to the 50s, pictures were family friendly and moral values strong, we had Ronald Reagan as our president and things seemed good. Next would have been the 1940s since I was just a pup and had good childhood memories with my closeness to my parents and other relatives. Next was the 1990s because I was earning good wages and having much of the same fun as in the 1980s doing gun shows in Texas and a few in other western states. I was paying off all my mortgages and living well. While I despised Clinton, I marveled at how Congress forced him into a more conservative economic policy. Stocks did well in the 1990s and used guns were still easy to pick up cheap.

If this doesn't become firearms or hunting related, it's outa here! :p

Oh brother. I guess it had to be the 70s, as awful as they were.

Pilot training, Vietnam as a Forward Air Controller, married, two wonderful daughters, instructor pilot then Air Force space program, then NASA and worldwide name recognition, the start of my SHOOTING writing career...

I'm not forgetting Carter and 18% interest rates, disco and all the rest. But for me, the 70s were my young adult years. I know I'm forgetting most of the bad parts.

Heck, even nostalgia isn't what it used to be....

Handgun hunting for deer and pigs in Florida, the beginnings of my gun collection... Ahhhhh.

Hope that keeps it on topic, kdub!

The 1980's were my best years of shooting and hunting, lots of good times. Now I'm teaching my 2 youngest boys to shoot, and my oldest has the Mosin Nagant bug. I'm still trying to teach him about buying ammo in bulk! He has some time at 16.

Are you kidding, the music stopped in the 60's

Boy, this decade for me, thus far....and looking for it to get even better! High school years (late 70's) were fun, but painful at the same time, although the 70's was when hunting was budding in my life. College and early work years were just a chore, with little hunting opportunity. Now, settled in with a good group of family and friends to hunt/fish/hike/camp with, and the means to do it more....the future is bright!

The '00's cause the klinton gun ban expired (no thanks to gwb) and I could once again get hi-cap mags at reasonable prices. OR, the '70s, 'cause Marlin and Winchester lever action rifles had no safeties. OR, the '80's 'cause no one really knew what steel shot was or why we "needed it". OR, the 60's......Well , you got me there, I was born in '63, so you tell me.....Later,B.

Gotta agree the '50's were good. Good 'ole Ike in the whitehouse. Raging hormones. Hunting, fishing, shooting almost anywhere. Life was good. Joined the USMC in '56 and grew into a man.

Then came the 60's. Sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll. I got stoned and I missed it.

70's, 80's & 90's were great. Excellent job, high pay, and could afford quality toys. Fast cars, premium shotguns, rifles and handguns but not a lot of free time to enjoy them.

Current decade. Pure joy. I still have all those toys and acquire new ones quite often. No more Lotus nor Porsche, but a sedate sedan. I can shoot every day at my back yard range on acreage that I own. No worries, everything paid for, no bills, no raging hormones, hunting, fishing , shooting almost anywhere. Life is good.

Seems to have come full cycle.

Well, seeing as I only have 2 and a half decades to chose from, I guess it would be the 00's

I don't live in the past... nothing you can do to bring it back. I'm loving life now and looking to the future!

The late 40's and the early 50's, when you could tell your parents you were going hunting and dad would hand you a box of shorts with a request for a nice fat rabbit or two, or a turkey, or Grandpa taking you deer hunting and giving you your first center fire rifle. Miss both Dad and Grandpa a lot.

I wish I could take Ranch Dog’s position, but for me it would be a lie. I think the early years of my life 40s to mid 60s were more firearm friendly, as we lived in a more firearm related society, then, every man I met liked to talk about hunting. You could buy a gun in any state, you could buy one at Western Auto, Sears and through other department stores; one could order them through catalogues. Time is about as firearm related as anything could possibly be, the more it passes, and the more firearm related realities will seem opaque and soon disappear. I’m glad I’m old and happy I had been born into a good time.

I think this is the decade for me. Matter of fact, whichever one anyone would have asked me that question, I guess I would have chosen it, at that time... Twenty years from now, I hope I can say that one is.

Definitely the present decade. Other decades might have been more gun friendly but the kids are grown up now and I can afford my gun hobby.
