This was to go on Calender Order of 2nd Reading March 8, 2007. I've not heard what happened. Did it pass? If so when does it become law? I'll need a few days to move all my guns back down to my other home in Tennessee.

You may be unaware of it, but these forums have both national and international membership. You cannot presume any particular state legislation will be well-known. A quick Google on SBOO16 returns a smoking ban in Indiana. Please be specific.

Ok. What I'm asking about is a bill in Illinois that would creat the Assault Weapons Ban Act of 2007. If it passes into law it's bad news. Last I knew it had passed the Committee and was up for a vote to make it law. Several of the provisions include registering existing guns, banning in-state sales, certain ammo, some shotguns, etc. You get the idea. Anyway, I can't find anything as to if it passed. If it did, then there's only a ninety day period to either register or sell before getting Class 3 Felony. I'd like time to return to Tennessee before all that happens. Now, I'm listening for any info. Didn't know there were unrelated articles with same name. Thanks.

I called Sen Meeks office who is one of a number of co-sponsors. His office, a very nice lady named Donna, indicated it is up for a second reading, has not been voted on as far as she knew. However, it would be best to call back tomorrow, Tuesday, she indicated she may know more then. Evidently things get done on Tuesdays in Illinios?????

I noted on the web site as well as from Donna, that it was part of the Health Care legislation. Evidently there is an issue with lead poisoning that is tied to assault weapons in Illinois? It was not being positioned under law enforcement legislation.

Good Luck, doesnt look good to me.

Just found out that Senators Susan Garrett and Bill Brady are members of Public Health. Figures.
