185gr beartooth, 16gr H110, Rem/starline case, WSPP?
Anyone else using this load?
It sounds like a real winner!
I just added a 1894c to my personal collection... It came in on a trade at the shop and looked a little out of place... So I took it home ;)
I havent loaded 357 for years, I am thinking hard about this becoming my go to gun...

Sounds like a good load for deer. My question is how practical is it when one can grab his Marlin 44 magnum just as easy?

Point is that I will be using the 357... I can choose just about any gun I want... And being a Type 7 Title 2 SOT I can build it if they dont make it... :D

The .357 Mag Marlins make great "Go To" guns in any event. Some argue theyre more versatile than the .44's - I wont get into that.
But any way you look at it, theyre fun and easy to shoot, handy, pretty cheap and no power slouch. You should see the list of game taken with .357 Mag handguns back in the early days. Surprising really, to knowm that everything from African game to hog, deer and Moose have fallen to the .357 Mag. Not to mention any number of gnarly 2-legged critters who needed a good shooting to set them straight.
Load the cartridge hot and punch it out of the long 1894 barrel and it can take game. Know your limitations and use the gun/load within reason.
On the other end of the spectrum from the load you mentioned, there are also the light plinking loads with 110-125 gr JHP and the 140-158gr lead bullets.
I suppose all this can be said of the .44 Mag, too. But, somehow, it seems to get all the press - while the .357 Mag. - the frst Magnum round - is still as good as ever.
Im looking for an 1894C myself. If someone has one and feels its inadequate, let me know. Ill unburden you of it.
