I recommend 7MM mag for Axis. Have shot some with 270 and 243 and they just stay alive. Shots from the 243 were in the head/neck area and just did not do the job. This is the best venison I have ever had. A little bit better than our whitetails.

I ate some tenderloin Axis that my neighbor gave me. It was sure better than Whitetail!
