I think I would like to live in Texas, or any other place where decent law abiding folks have the right and means to defend themselves.

Under Australian law we actually do have the right to defend ourselves, we just dont have the means. The only way to get a handgun is under gun club support and you can only fire your handgun during a club approved activity, and saving your life doesn't come under that heading.

I know from personal experience that 6 feral varmints with baseball bats can scare the manure out of a fellow.
Ask the jackasses in office how I should deal with this problem and the answer would be "dial 000 for emergency and ask for the police". Yeh, thanks jackass.

You would be more than welcome here in Maine, USA. How the former British Empire which conquered people by force of arms would reduce itself to a whimpering shell of itself and having it's people go unprotected is almost unbelievable. I carried a reproduction Enfield three band .58 caliber rifle in my Civil War re-inacting days. It has to be one of the most beautiful and balanced firearm that I ever owned and carried. I also have a Mk3 1917 .303 Enfield, also a great rifle.

We have a pro gun governor today. He changes his mind quickly though. Before the election he was for sealing the border and after his relection he changed his mind immediately. Politicians do that. Doesn't mean we should like it or approve of it though.
