Hey every body just had a question, been thinking of getting a new barrel for my Encore for deer hunting. Been looking at two, the 460 S&W or the 44 Rem Mag both 15". Seems like both have good and bad, I'm leaning toward the 460 and having a muzzle tamer added to easy the recoil. Let me know what you all think, Thanks. Russ

i dont have an encore, just a couple of contenders. i do have a 45-70, super 14 w/ a scope. 420 gr. WLNGC bullets for my handloads and that load is managable. factory loads are like shooting a 357 or less. i also have pachmeyer grips. try ssk industries if you want something different, they have 50 cal. and up for encores. i just read somewhere that he has a 62 cal. wildcat w/ a 1000+ gr. bullet. i think it fits the encore, might have to call him to be sure. go for the 460, if you hand load, you could load down to 44 power, but you cant load a 44 up to 460 power.
