I bought a Winchester 9422 a few days ago. The gun appears relatively new. This 9422 unlike the others I've seen has no checkering in the stock!! Does anyone know what years these noncheckered guns were made?! Someone told me the early 9422s from the 70s were uncheckered. Thanks

That's what I understand to be true also. I have a 78 XTR in 22lr that has no checkering and hi-gloss finish. The phone number for Winchester is 800-333-3288 or 801-876-2711 and you will need your model and serial number for them to look up your date.
