Just picked up a reloading and am looking to expand my capabilities. Prior to me buying the die set for the 7.62 x 25, does anyone have any load data for this? Also, is there any issues I should be aware of before undertaking this load?

Thanks in adavance,
SS

I have listed some of my loadings I have used for the 7.62 Tokarev on Loadswap.com. I also have loadings that are in Excel format that can be downloaded at: http://www.brleather.net/ReloadingData.html.

You can find a wealth of knowledge on the CZ-52 on Makarov.com.

The only "issue" I have found with this cartridge is that you must lube every-other round so they don't stick in the dies. But other than that it is a hoot to shoot with reloads. Best bullet I have found is the 90gr Hornady HP. Good luck.

There is a boatload of info for the 7.62x25 but the one I like best is from Accurate Arms using AA#7 powder. I have Lee dies (which are carbon steel & need lube) and they work fine for me: some loading data came with them. Loads for a whole boatload of different powders are available if you search the various forums including Makarov.com. You should be able to find loads for just about any favorite pistol powder. By all means get on the Starline brass website and read their comments about maximum case length and trimming: 7.62x25 can go KBOOM in a CZ-52 if you don't pay attention as the strong recoil spring will slam a round into the chamber and if the case is overlength will cam the bullet so tightly into the case neck that the resulting pressure can approach rifle pressure levels. CZ's don't take this kindly.

My two favorite loads are: (1) 110 grain Hornady #3013 JHP (same as used in M-1 carbine), 7.7 gr AA#7, Starline brass, O/A length 1.495", WSP primer which I estimate at ~1300 fps, and (2) Berry's 110 gr copper plated (same as used in M-1 carbine), 6.7 gr AA#7, Starline brass, O/A length 1.350", WSP primer which I estimate at ~1090 fps. The first one will eject a shell casing into a low earth orbit; the second spits it out just a few feet away and is a nice plinking load. Note that these are not the super fast velocities of the ~85 grain loads.
If you buy Eastern European mil surplus be careful: certain types are really for the Russian PPSH submachine gun and will be too hot for a handgun. Other mil surp loads may be corrosively primed. I have read that Winchester has a 7.62x25 but I haven't tried it. Good luck.
