Hi all, I have a BLR lever action that has started sticking when the lever is in the wide open spot of the action. It is fine and smooth all the way to wide open and then gets tight and sticky, you can get it closed it is just sticky and tight like it is jamming. It was working fine then I noticed it instantly different. This happened while shooting factory winchester loads. Does anyone have an idea as to how severe this problem is?
Thanks

Boy Wapiti that's one gun I've never delved into the guts of. I'd sure give Browning a call and ask their advice. You may have to take it to a gunsmith to have it checked out. I understand there are some issues about timing when dissembling and assembling the BLR.

Ok we figured it out...I just installed a scope with one piece Leupold bases and when you tighten the back reciever screw it must torque on the reciever housing because thats when it binds. If you have the front three tight and just snug the back one it is just fine.
Hope this may help someone in the future.

It sounds like the screw may be to long. Try grinding off a bit a time and see if you can make it usable.

Yea we thought of that but the screw does not even go through to the reciever. It is just the flex by the one piece base.

I've seen screws that go thru a receiver bind up an action, but what you describe is a first. Sure glad you ran it down. Three screws will probably be OK. You might want to put a drop of fingernail polish or some of the blue locktight on the three remaining ones.
