I'm going to start reloading for my wife's new Rem 700 in 7mm-08 using Barnes TSX 120 gr. bullets. Just wondering if any of you guys have recommendations or experience with these bullets. Barnes suggests using H414 and RL15 but I'd also like to try Varget. They also recommend Federal GM210M primers. I'm not familiar with this primer. Do you think magnum primers would be OK for this round? I've got tons of Remington magnum primers.

The Fed 210M is a magnum primer. Don't really think you need mag primers for the 7-08 and using the powders they recommend. H414 is a ball powder, so it's a bit harder to ignite than stick powder, which RL-15 is.

Varget is a very good, all-round powder. Go ahead and try it using the recommended loadings.

Watch your stand-off of the lands with the all copper Barnes bullets. They recommend at least .050" to start with and believe me, you want to give them a bit of free bore, as pressures will spike quickly if you get them too near the rifling.

Any of you guys shooting the 160 gr. TSX and if so, have you found a good load?

I have loaded the Barns X 140 but not a 160
IMR 4350 gives good accuracy, start about 45 grains, use a manual beginning charge and you can move up to about 48 grains for a compressed load.
I have seen 160-grain loads shoot under 1 MOA, but I don't have the load. I would buy the Barnes manual if you plan to load those, as they are longer than same weight pills.

Thanks for the info Charshooter. Actually, I got the newest Barnes manual for Christmas and it only shows data for the X Bullet. I checked the Barnes web-site for loads and they only show two for the 160 gr. TSX, one using Big Game and the other H414.
I also ordered a box of 250 gr. TSX bullets for my .338 Win Mag and there is no data available for this bullet. The new manual shows loads for the other 250 gr. bullets, I think one is the round nosed but nothing using H4831 which my rifle is kind of partial to. I've emailed Ty at Barnes, I'll wait and see if he responds.

Barnes will usually tell you that the loadings are interchangeable with their X bullets.
