What's your preference: 3/4 or full length mag tube and why?

0 length (box) magazines, because they let you use a variety of pointed bullets.

Full length or button mags have always been my preference. They just have a cleaner look to them.

Is a button mag flush with the forend (sorry, a rookie)?

Yep, that's the one.

My preference is a full length mag rifle style and no barrel bands. I think that the look is traditional and cleaner but its never stopped me having any other type. I think I have a secret fire-power fetish.

Snow.Full also, but have both half and am building (er, rebuilding) a 94 with a half mag, carbine butt 16.5" bbl and if I get rich before the parts are gathered, I'm having it made into a take-down. In .30WCF I think it'll be the ultimate packable backup rifle for those horseback hunting trips. While I'd hate to break or somehow lose the use of my primary rifle (also a .30-30) a backup would at least save the trip.

This is pictured with a 20" barrel and rear barrel band, but with a rifle forend, cut the bbl and a half mag I think you can see what neat take-down package that'd make. Might only hold four in the mag, but... I don't remember needing more than two for many, many years!

[I prefer the 3/4 length magazine with pistol grip - the Model 64 Winchester is my idea of what the rifle should look like. I only have equipped this way but I like it best.

My preference is for full length magazine tubes regardless of barrel length.
I've never liked the half or button magazines on lever guns. Not sure why, I just don't

As for the barrel bands or no barrel bands, I've no preference. I've never had a lever gun that had problems because of the bands.

Hey Griff, I didn't know you was a member here.

I admit the Model 55 with straight stock and button magazine looks unbalanced somehow. Francis Sell was a big influence for me so the Model 64 is my favorite. This one is not mine but I bid on it when it was at auction.

I like them both. I like the look and feel of the Marlin CB rifles with full length mag tubes, but I also like the look and feel of the Sporting Carbines with the 3/4 mag tubes. My new 308MX has the 3/4 mag tube and I love that rifle.

I'm partial to the full length tubes. I just think they look better. But beauty is in the eye of the rifle holder I suppose.

As long as the barrel is what I chose, and I like the weigh ( pun ) it balances the rifle front heavy and adds weight to the front, as well. JMO

I like the button mags, looks clean and neat to me. Here's one I've been working on, still tweaking a few problems, but overall, it's great, and I can hardly put it down. I call her my "Swamplever". I got it as a beater, missing parts, and put her together. I am a sucker for a button mag tube!

That's pretty nice looking. Feel free to post more about the process, and I wouldn't mind a closeup of the end of the forend to see how it all comes together.

Wellsir, that'd be the tweaking part I'm working on.....currently, with a full mag, after a shot or two she pops out. We're hashing out a good solution over on the MO forum, and I hope to get her up and running well. She'll currently hold a 5 shot 2" group at 50 yds, sandbag rest(RD shoot) but I'm trying for better.

I prefer the 3/4" length tubes. For some reason they seem to be more balanced for me. Could be psychological, I suppose  :D . I also like the looks of them.
