View Full Version : more on "big Pig"
There was an article in the paper this morning that the 1015# "monster Pig" was named Fred, raised on a farm as a pet, and was only sold four days before he was shot and killed. The new owner put the pig in a 150 acres enclosure. A "canned hunt"
The other thread was closed but I wanted to let you'll know if you didn't already.
I don't blame the kid, but the father who set up his web site for obvious reasons ought to be held accountable.
No wonder he could follow the pig around and keep shooting him.
I have no problem with game fenced ranches, but this is sad!

tpv, I completely agree. The whole thing is very sad. How is this gonna make a true hunter outta any kid.
Hand the kid a weapon bigger than he can manage(probably chosen by his father for the "WOW" factor),didn't teach him how to use the weapon(probably a huge "flinch factor),and allowed the kid to make the animal suffer as he did, shot after shot,..........this is a very sad story.
It does nothing for our sport except make us even more of a "bad guy".
They all should be ashamed, especially the grown ups. ----pruhdlr
There are many unscrupulous people in business - including the guided hunting business. There are many of the same folks that only care about trophies, no matter how they are acquired. Thank goodness these folks are in the minority.
Had a few trophy heads, racks and rugs that the wife thought were cluttering up the house and should be disposed of. Gave a couple to the local gunrange for the activity building and then a fellow from Wisconsin contacted me to buy the rest. Asked him what he did with them and he said he could take them back home and sell to sports shops and bars as conversation pieces. Since he had cash in hand and the wife was looking over my shoulder, let them go.
Often wondered what sort of tales were generated by them.
