Hello everyone,
* * I've had the chance to shoot my rebarreled GP-100 at last. Results were mostly good, with a couple of oddities. The first oddity is that the front sight is not quite straight any more - it's so close it's hard to be sure, but after two days at the range I'm positive it cants a little to the left. I'm guessing the barrel is screwed in just a smidge past center (it has a rib on top into which the sight dovetails) .
* * The other weird thing is that the cylinder did not want to close or turn after I fired the fifth cylinder full and ejected the rounds. It was very stiff, and once I got it closed I could only draw the hammer back while twisting the cylinder with my other hand. I did some careful manipulation (um, I fiddled with it a while) and it eventually loosened back up so I continued shooting. I can only guess that a bit of debris bound up the innards temporarily.
* * The good news is that the barrel didn't foul to speak of, either with cast bullets or jacketed. My groups were decent but not spectacular. I did fire 50 rounds at one target and ended up with a big ragged hole 3.5" across at 25 yds. I thought that was OK, but I didn't fire any 1" groups. Oh well, a fellow needs to have a goal.
* * * * I read Dan's post about the Smith & Wesson service and I must admit to some jealousy! I paid the freight one way, waited six weeks, and got back a dinged up gun with the barrel screwed on crooked. I guess that's why the S&W costs twice as much! *Well, at least maybe I can get the rascal to shoot now. * * * * * * * * IDShooter

I'm a Ruger person, through and through. I really believe you get excellent value with sound, innovative engineering principles when you buy Ruger. I am however, very emmbarest(i know i spelled that wrong, too lazy to go get Mr. Webster out!<!--emo&;)--><img src="http://beartoothbullets.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo--> for Ruger & Co. when i hear these un-satisfactory repair services(mine included)horror stories.I think there service can at times be hit or miss.:(

Hi again,
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Well shot the GP again today. I still couldn't get groups better than about 3 inches. After 100 rounds I had a little leading too. So I slugged the barrel. Since it's five groove I couldn't measure the slug but I did try it in the cylinder to compare it to the cylinder throats. The slug hung up in each cylinder but I was able to push it on through pretty easily, except for one cylinder which seemed just a bit tighter than the others. Do you suppose that the cylinders are enough larger than the barrel for decent cast bullet shooting?
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;I loaded some more jacketed rounds to try next time out. The first time out they didn't do any better than the cast loads, but we'll try again.
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Also, I had several rounds misfire when shooting double action. Firing the same rounds a second time ignited them okay. Hard to believe the firing pin isn't hitting hard enough considering the 18lb DA trigger pull! Doesn't give me a real sense of security in a defense weapon. And yes, the primer pockets were clean and the primers were firmly seated by hand.
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; The saga continues..... &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;IDShooter
