I'm refinishing a wood stock on an old .22, and would like to use a finish that is going to give me a high gloss, smooth, factory like finish on the wood. Recommendations?
Thanks in advance,
All the best,
Glenn

cajun I've had good results with Birchwood Casey's Tru-oil. It's easy to use and gives a high gloss finish that is really simple to maintain.

Thank you both very much. I greatly appreciate the quick response.

Fromby's Tung oil is also an excellent hand applied finish.

Minwax sells a fast-drying polyurethane in a spray can for 6 bucks. You can get it in clear gloss, I have used this for wooden arrows with very good results.Q

I have used the same on the stock of my old Remington 514 and it looks just great. Hard as nails to,

I've used the Tru Oil, and another product called African Express from Brownells. Both give good results. The Tru Oil is a bit more forgiving; simpler application, and in my experience, not as many separate coats req'd.
