My sincerest sympathies goes out to you folks in Texas, Oklahoma and other states hit bad by those terrible floods. Being in a state that is hilly our floods don't cause the damage that areas like yours that are basically flat with no place for the water to go.

Thanks, The Brazos River is flooding in Central Texas and our own little piece of the world ( the hunting lease) has grass three feet tall and ground like a sponge. Its been a relief but if it would stop now and gives us a couple if inches in late July, that would be great.
I swear, we go from one extreme to another.

It is hilly in Central Texas and the problem is, the soil is thin and the water just runs off. Lots of flash floods.
Marble Falls, Texas, was the epicenter of some serious rain and ended up with something like 18 or 19 inches in a few hours.
That'll flood anything!
You keeping your powder dry, Mike?

Went to Glenrose this morning and the Paluxy was out of its banks, so was the Brazos still.
It's supposed to rain on and off through next week

Yep. Always buy a house at the top of the hill, not the bottom!

I was wondering if you were growing webs between your toes. :p Glad you're OK. I don't know what 18" of rain would do in this country but it wouldn't be pretty. IIRC, the one day rainfall record for Saskatchewan is about 12".
Bye
Jack
The reported 19" of rain in 24 hrs for Marble Falls represents almost 3 years of normal rainfall for us. Ain't had "normal" rain for the past 13 years - been averaging somewhere around 4.5" to 5" yearly. Last time we had anywhere near normal was 1976 - that year Tucson and Phoenix had major flooding due to downpours of 2" in the 24 hr period!

Well, come and get some, then. You can have all you need!

Up here in east central KS, the first 2.5-3 inches soaked in. We are now starting to have some go over low lying roads. The pastures sure are spongy! We usually start putting up prairie hay asap after the 4th of July...may be a little wait this year!

Rainfall here can be weird for sure. This time of year it is all tropical stuff with moisture from the Gulf of Mexico. Last year we had a total of 26.6" here. The first 6 months of the year, 27.7".
Michael - how did you and the deer plots fare with all this rain?

I talked to RD last night and asked the exact same question. He's spending a lot of free time on the tractor mowing!
Critter sightings are scarce due to the abundance of food / cover. Hopefully it'll be a good season this fall. They won't lack for anything to eat, that's for sure.
