Anyone that has played around with the new 12 gauge-3 1/2" as learned very quick that the load can be tricky indeed.
The first thing learned is the 3 1/2" guns are just a slight modification of the standard 3" frames. There is a problem with getting the loaded rounds into the mag tube of some models/makes. It is next to impossible to get a longer rolled crimp to go in.
Second, the hull makers for 3 1/2" were making hulls that were slightly shorter than a full 3 1/2". Reloaders complained that the fold crimp ststion on their reloading tooling wad not closing the crimps (?).....so here came a running change in length on shipped hullls. That running change crashed our rolled crimp loads....big time.
Oh well, what's new....delayed orders as we re-vamp to folded crimps. After talking to Ponsness-Warren about the problem, we bought their new 3 1/2" tooling.....the best tooling I have seen!
We also did a little internal changes to tighten up patterns and to insure there would be no buffer leaking out of the loaded rounds.
Ammo has been sent to Realph for final testing and we should be shipping against orders soon. Attached is s jpg of the new round.
Regards, James
