I just bought a brand new Taurus 9mm and when I loaded the clip and attempted to chamber the round for the first time, it didn't chamber. The second time, when I did it more slowly, it chambered just fine. That bothered me a little though because the gun is brand new, and I would think that there would be absolutely NO difficulties with a Taurus. Any comments?

No matter who makes the gun, a semi-auto should get 100-200 rounds to break it in. So...there may be nothing at all wrong with that pistol, it's just new and needs to be run-in a bit.

LEt us know how that pistol works after a couple of boxes are run through it.

What Ribbon said.
When new, i have found that the 92 series, whether Beretta or Taurus, seem to break in better with 2 or 3 left out of the magazine. If you have 10 rounders, load 7, 15 rounders, load 10 or 12.
Shoot it, then shoot some more.
By the By, those factory Taurus mags leave some for the quality, so I'd most likely get ahold of a few Mecgar mags or mil-surps...

Beretta mags will work in a taurus, but Taurus mags won't in a Beretta, at least Beretta mags worked in my Taurus 92 AFSD.

I've since sold it many moons ago, but have gone back to the 92 design with a Beretta Vertec, which is basically a 92FS with a 1911 grip

good luck, and let us know how U make out!

Chris gave you good advice. The mags seem to need as much time to break in as the gun itself. I had a Taurus PT92AF a number of years ago and after it was broken in it would Rock and Roll. If you reload try 85 grain bullets, That pistol will fly! Jim

Joshua,
Here's a couple of things that you probably did but didn't mention...

* Strip the gun down as far as you can, or as far as you are comfortable doing. Clean it, and clean it some more- there is all manner of lube, grease, oil, crud, and metal in a factory new gun that needs to be cleaned out.
The owner's manual will help you with this if you do not know the procedure.

* Lube the gun according to the manual. As you shoot this Taurus and get to learn it's needs, you will find that it needs more or less lube than the factory states.

* If you have magazines that can be stripped(taken apart), do it, and repeat the lube process. Remember, magazines(sometimes) need to break in also.

* Use factory ammo for the break-in period, 300-500 rounds. Ball ammo is most forgiving of different ramp and throat designs.

Let us know how it turns out. Good Luck!
