I like the idea of a "game pole" thread... actually it's a really good thread. I figured i'd share a few photos of my favorite land. BWCAW stands for Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. It's pretty much the northernmost region of Minnesota in the eastern part (if that makes any sense). Anyways, here's a few reasons why I like it so much.

This was the first (and only) grouse I've ever shot. This was during an October trip with a couple of buddies. We were walking along an old logging road hunting squirrels when this bird flushed and I well, needless to say got it.

As far as fishing, we usually catch a decent number of northern pike and (smaller sized) walleye, however this day yielded some good smallmouth bass.

This was a joke for our AP Government teacher... he is a self-proclaimed "bleeding heart" so on the October trip we decided to have a little fun with him and show him that we still studied on our trip up north.

I enjoyed your pictures. Has me thinking about past Canadian fishing trips a few hundred miles north of the boundary waters. I also do a little canoeing, mostly in the winter here.Q

I've never had walleye, but I hear they are very good eating. I've had smallmouth bass, and they were excellent. Great photos!

Good eating is an understatement. We keep them alive until we've got the frying pan hot and then fillet them out quick (we've become pretty good at it- I had to do alot of fish this year) and then lightly bread and fry them. Northern are similar, but the big ones are best if you wrap fillets (not the entire thing... you cut them into 4-5" peices) in foil with some italian seasoning, bell peppers, lemons, and some seasoning.

Soooo good (imagine someone saying it with a heavy Minnesotan accent and you'll get the idea)
