I just wanted to share with you some of the places near where I live. These places are pretty, but no more so than a million places all over this beautiful country.

Elk up on the headwaters of the Northfork of the Clearwater.

Lolo Creek that flows into the Main Clearwater just below Kamiah Idaho.

Orofino, Idaho on the Clearwater River where I was born and grew up.

French Mountain elk country out of Pierce, Idaho. A place where I've hunted for 40 plus years.

Orofino Creek, My dads home place lies along this creek. We grew up eating deer. I don't think I even tasted beef til I was six years old.

Dwarshak Lake now begins 80 or so miles of slackwater on the Northfork of the Clearwater river into some of Idaho's best deer and elk hunting.

Bob,
I guess I haven't looked at a map of that country enough...does Orofino Cr run into the Clearwater, or into Dworshak Lake now?

I've jumped off Dent bridge before, but the lake was fairly full, so it was only 30-40 ft drop. Still exciting though!

Nice pics.

Orofino Creed feeds out of the French Mountian Drainage, passes thru the middle of Pierce Idaho, then runs down thru Orofino into the Clearwater. It flows into the Clearwater about four miles above the Mouth of the Northfork of the Clearwater.

There's a railroad, now abandoned, that runs from Orofino to where the JP plywood plant was and on into Headquarters, but there is very limited access to Orofino creek by a few logging roads that intersect it. Fishing is excellent and quite a few years ago a friend and I took about 63 ounces of gold out from behind the bridge abutments at the O'Mill. This is just a few miles below the old American Placer mine.

Here's some flowers from around the area.

High mountain lillies.
