Gents:
Been having a ball shooting and loading for a new vaquero in 45 colt. Got it to shoot to point of aim and pretty accurate with the right loads. I find the "ruger ring" to be a bit irritating and would like to adjust the bolt timing so rises in the lead rather than drags on the cylinder. Any suggestions on how to do this?

The design of the Ruger isn't compatible with what you want to do, it just isn't in the cards. These guns are made of absolutely interchangeable parts that are not oversize and do not require fitting. That is just how the design is.

Part of the "problem" is the way Rugers are made. Open the loading gate, the bolt stop withdrwars and the cylinder is free to rotate for loading...now unless you make sure the bolt is lined up with a notch before you close that gate, the bolt is going to pop up randomly on the cylinder...so even if you timed it for no-ring, you'll still end up with a ring from the loading process (it will just take longer for it to form).
