I have a Browning B78 in 6mm that was made in the late 70's or early 80's.I noticed that when the hammer is half cocked(actually, the hammer is less than half way) and I pull the trigger the hammer will fall.Is this normal????????

Focus, I have a Browning B78 High Wall .243 Win (1978) and the half-cocked hammer definitely drops when the trigger is gently squeezed. Note, considering the minimal distance the hammer falls in this position, I don't honestly know if the resulting impact force is enough to set the primer off - I'll test it next time I'm out hunting !

Thank's for the reply; I guess that is the way they are/were designed to work. Just never noticed it before.........
