sold my 270 several years ago and have kind of missed it. Would like to have a 270 cal. but maybe something a little different. Everyone seems to I have a 270 or an 06. The 270 AI doesn't seem to show much of a gain and I was wondering about the 270 Gibbs. Does anyone know anything about this round? It looks interesting but can't find any info. Need help!!

it is a good cartridge from what I have gathered. had a fella send me some .270 Gibbs fire formed cases to observe and ........ I decided to back out. I went to Wollf publishing and ordered the GIBBS' CARTRIDGES and Front Ignition Loading Technique cd and is full of the studies and load development of his cart. A good source for those that want a Gibbs wildcat.

If I want a hot flat shooter then the .300 win mag will do the trick, had enough of fire forming. :)

good shooting

I have owned 5 .270's at one time-a strong statement in itself.

A Gibbs cartridge is probably the maximum you can do with the -06 case. The 270 was Rocky Gibbs favorite, according to his book. He got from 3170 fps to 3287 fps with a 130 grain bullet in his rifle. His case was 2.5" long, with a .250" neck on a 35 degree shoulder.

Good luck!!

You might check out the 270 Winchester Short Mag. Seems to be a pretty good gain on the standard 270. There are several good rifles on the market chambered for it.
