Just bought a Remington International model SPR18 in .308Win. Anyone have any information or testimonials? Looks to be built like a Ruger #1. I figure to make a handload with 110-125 gr bullet for coyote and another heavier handload for deer/hogs.
Thanks

Isn't that a break open action? Rugers are a falling block.
I haven't heard too much about them, let us know how it works.

Actually the SPR18 is a break open design simular to a single shot shotgun and much like the NEF and Rossi single shots. Ruger's are a falling block single shot.
Here's a pix of one.

Compared to the Ruger which does not pivot in the middle, but the lever drops a block behind the cartridge.

That aside it should make you a dandy rifle. I've always wanted one of the SPR22's, the double barrel version Remington sells, but just don't have the cash for that now. They make the double in 45-70 and 30-06.
Here's the double.

I daydream of being in Idaho's jungles facing the charge of a man eating elk with that double rifle.
Anyway that Remington sure has a bunch of calibers for that little single shot available. Your going to have to tell us how it shoots when you start shooting it.
I've only got one 308 and it's a Rem model 7 carbine with the 18.5 inch bbl. Good luck with that new gun.

I haven't received the gun yet so didn't realize it was break action. I mistakenly thought it was a falling block, that underlever fooled me I guess. Price was right so either way I figure to be happy, as long as it shoots decent.
Thanks for the info.

I don't see the double listed on Remington's web site anymore, Shame to see it dropped. I know lots of folks that tried ordering them when Remington announced it would be selling them.
Huntinbull you let us know how that little gun shoots when you get it.
