I just recently got my settelment on the 11-48 that a smith? ruined, and have been looking for a receiver to no avail. I have however, found a Sportsman 48 receiver on one of the auction sites.

Do any of ya'll know if my internal parts will interchange between the two? I already know that the stock set will, just not sure about everything else.

Thanks.

Have you check here? They may have the parts you need.

Thanks Faucettb, but I've checked there already. No receivers for the 11-48, just the SPT48, and they list condition as Fair. The fellow with his listed on GB replied that his is a strong 90%, no pitting and the bolt slide rails are straight with minimal wear, my receiver was a weak 95% so I think the guy on GB would be the way to go, that is my 11-48 parts will work in it.

They appear to be mirror images so I guess they are the same. All the best...

Scott, I was 12 the year those shotguns came out, and back then the word on the street was that it took a 12-year old boy to tell the new model cars apart. Probably the same with shotguns :)

However, the bad news is that the memory is the second thing to go, and I've already forgotten the first. . .

To the best of my recollection, the only difference between the 11-48 and the Sportsman-48 was the magazine capacity (the Sportsman was limited to two rounds in the magazine, making it legal for ducks without plugging the magazine.)

TOG is correct,

The 11-48 was a 5 shooter, the 48 Sportsman was a 3 shooter.
The differences were only in the mag tube. The recievers are the same.

Took me a while to get back to this, my bad.

I kinda figured they were the same except for the mag tube. Just needed to make sure before I bought a replacement receiver.

Thank's guys.
