Well since I cant carry 10 rounds in my mag for hunting with my YUGO SKS and the 10 round stripper under normal shooting times around the range we such a pain to get to load into the mag well smoothly I got a wild hair this morning and made me some 5 round clips. I just loaded 10 rounds into the stripper and marked the center between the 5th and 6th round placed it on my railroad track anvil and used a 1/2 inch wide chisel and with about 2 good whacks it was cut in half. The pinch the chisel made served as the case stop then all I had to do was smooth out the edges from the chisel cut on my bench grinder and use the wire brush to polish the metal edges till there were smooth as glass. I made about 10 of these in little over an hour and they drop in and load like a dream one right behind the other for 10 rounds no fuss at all. I can carry a couple of these in my shirt pocket or vest for quick access and there just right for the 5 round hunting mags or the modified 10 round mags with a stop block used for hunting in states that only allow 5 rds. in the mag.

When you cut the clip into two parts with the chisel it makes a crimp where its cut which acts as the stop for the casings leaving the lip on the other end to load from. All you have to do then is grind off the rough edges and polish up the edges.

Those are great pictures! And a good idea too.

I like it...just have to remember which end goes in the gun. Some red nail polish on the stop end would make that clear enough.

I have a Chinise SKS that I converted the factory magazine to a flush mount 5 round for hunting many years ago. Those stripper clips would be perfect for that.

I have found the SKS "stripper clip" is a fine way to carry 10 rounds of 38 Special or 357 Magnum ammo. When I used to carry a 38 while hunting groundhogs it was easy to carry 10 or 20 rounds in a back pocket, nice and flat. Dirt cheap too.
