just got a 9422m (no checkering, serial no. F126112).
Called in sick just so i didn't miss the courier. I've been reading the threads on the accuracy of the little rifle so was dead keen to prove it.
bore was real nice, hardly been fired i think.
ripped the scope(grand slam 3-10) off my 223 sako, mounts off my .22 browning pump, couple of target printoffs (long-range dot com),
and all i had to do now was catch my breath and settle down enough to shoot some decent groups.
first off it was win superx 40gr jhp's (perfect ferel goat medicine i thought), couldn't get a 5 shot group under 3 inches(@100 yards), very very dissapointed,
but before i sent the rifle back i tried some 34gr win supreme's.
lucky i did 'cause I got sub 1" groups straight off! even got a
2/3" before i ran out of light.
why the big group difference? does the little rifle just not like the super x rounds?
(but hey... I allready like her better than my sako!).

also, what oil/grease/lube should i be using in the action? Any advice would be helpfull as i never owned a 'lever action' before.

That's just the way it is. Congrats on finding an accurate rifle / ammo combination with little work.

I use Break-Free CLP on all of the moving parts of my guns.

thanks mike, think I got some clp somewhere, tried rem oil but it feels real gritty. I always wanted a winchester lever gun, and now i got one that can really shoot, i'm gonna have to get a good scope for it, more$ eh?

Some of the Rem cleaning products ARE gritty. At least one of them has some abrasive in it for scrubbing crud out of barrels.

So, no, don't use that in the action.

Mine scatters the CCI stuff pretty bad. It groups the Winchester and some Remington ballistic tip stuff pretty good though.
