I shot a friend's Glock 45 acp the other day. THe ammo was Wolf's steel cased round.
Fairly often a round would fail to feed completely into the chamber. Could this be from too weak a recoil spring?

Can you be more specific? Which Glock 45 model was it? What bullet style & weight was the round? It's pretty hard to get a Glock to hiccup but some combinatiions have been found.

Are steel cases ok for glocks? That would be my first concern

I don't know the Glock numbering, but it was a full size 45acp.
The Russian WOlf ammo is steel cased and round nosed ball.
Seems to me a little more oomph would have chambered those occasional jammed rounds.

Beats me. I monitor one of the Glock forums and have heard a couple bad things about the model 30 and swc bullets but nothing bad about the Wolf/steel cased ammo other than it can be hard on the extractor. The full size Glock 21 is known to feed about anthing that can be stuffed in the chamber.
Maybe somebody else has some better insights.
ps... does this fellows Glock feed brass ammo without any problems?

Going to cast my vote for the ammo being the problem. Have used the steel cases Wolf pistol rounds, and in some guns, they give enough extraction problems to slow the slide's cycle and produce those "almost loaded" failures. Usually, a good cleaning of the barrel's chamber cures the problem...at least for 50rounds.
Not going to get all technical, but given that steel doesn't conttract as much as brass when fired, that in combination with a curddy chamber might be your problem. Added to that might be that some lots of Wolf ammo use a kind of gummy sealant in the case neck...and that gummy asphalt like crud tends to build up at the end of the chamber.
Might be better to run a couple of boxes of US made ammo to see if you get teh same problems (but i would clean that chamber before hand).

That all makes sense...it is dirty ammo.

its the steel cases, I had the same problem and I don't use the Wolf ammo. Also, the steep feed ramp on the glock has a little to do to add to the problem. I polished the feed ramp and it helped

The Glock 21 (full size 45) is by far the most reliable 45 I have ever used. I carried one on the job for about a decade and competed with one for years as well. I dont recall a single hiccup EVER using from 230 grain ball and JHP to 200 grain LSWCs.
Without being there to actually witness what the gun was doing it is hard to give an accurate evaluation. I would suspect the Wolf brand ammo before any actual gun issues, at least in my experience.

My .40 model 35 had a ftf problem with rounds nose-jamming into the feed ramp. Rounds were stuck except to push the round back into the mag with a finger through the ejection port. This would happen with just about every other round though both my hi cap mags. Found it to be a magazine issue. Feed lips on both my hi cap mags had spread just a smidge just enough to keep the rounds from cycling smoothly. Got 2 new 15rd-ers & they function great. Never had a problem with my 10rd-ers. The above issue is most likely an ammo issue... But this is another possbility. Good luck. Glock makes a great gun!
