this is the only place on this forum ,,i could see this post might fit..
in n. c. you can[ for now] still carry in hip holster. if its clearly visible..while im getting an CC... i think im still gonna carry openly..my thinking is if decent level headed citizens,, dont use that right we gonna loose it..just have to be careful where you at with it strapped on..mabe this the wrong forum for this post .. if so moderator please excuse and delete accordingly.. i was just thinking on it today..i should know better than that by now..
I don’t carry exposed, as I don’t like to draw that much attention to myself but that's just me. I have had a CCW permit since the start of the shall issue program here in NC. In the summer time I wear lightweight shorts and carry in a fanny pack designed for concealed carry. In cooler times I might carry in a strong side hip, a shoulder holster or the fanny pack. I especially like the shoulder holster when I am hiking. I carry a S&W 5 shot .357 Mag or a Kimber .45ACP depending on my mood. Either gun should do the job.

Slim,
Some states will revoke your CC Permit if you expose your firearm, due to the fact that you possess the CC Permit, it is considered as flashing your firearm in some states. Be sure that you get the correct information concerning the rules in your state.

I'm thinking about open carrying here in Kansas. I think I would still take the required concealed carry firearm class so I could learn about weapon retention first though. I think I would carry in in a crossdraw holster because that way a person would have to be in front of or at least beside you to have a good chance at grabbing it. I checked with the AG office and here in Kansas at least, there are not any laws other than case law regarding open carry. I did verify, however, as Lee pointed out that carrying open in Kansas with a CCL is deemed brandishing according to the AG's (and my) understanding of our code so if I were to get a CCL, I would then no longer be able to legally open carry.
How has your experience been open carrying in NC, Slim?

For what is my experience, hip carrying is the best to choose, for it grants the quickest and most natural drawing of your weapon. Plus, you don't have a moment in the drawing when your weapon faces your body, a thing which can be particularly dangerous in an emergency situation.
Clearly, you can't safely carry this way cannons like Deagles (anyway carrying such a weapon for defence is most of a movie-style), I do this way with my G19.
Last, when you decide how to carry...remember you MUST still be able to perform actions like running, jumping and whatever needed to correctly face an armed menace.
At least...that is what I think and the way I act.

SgtKnuckles's Email to QuickDraw:
I would like to know if the Silver QuickDraw is Real Stainless Steel, OR just silver plated plain steel...???
Thanks,
SgtKnuckles

QuickDraw's Reply:
Hello SgtKnuckles,
It's nickel plated spring steel.

I kind of like the QuickDraw Clip idea best...
This may be a good way to Carry "The Judge" at the Ten or Two O'clock position... "The Judge" is only 1 1/2" wide, and Stainless... Besides,... the Girls might think I'm happy to see them with that Gun hanging in my Pants...<:-))
Note: it could get a little Awkward if it came Un-Cliped in a Crowd, and slid down your pants leg onto the Floor...!!!...hehehe...<:-))
BlackMamba's Right,... No Running Or Jumping with this... Besides, it might be kind of hard on the Nuggets, running, and jummping

Check with http://www.packing.org/ for most local laws. The specifically say to check with a local sheriff's office is anything is unclear.
I guess their site is down for maintenance or something...

One thing above all: remember that an open carry can turn you into a target for many people...and I wouldn't like playing that part...
