Need to lighten up the trigger on a model 70 compact for my son. There is not enough usable length in the stock spring to allow it to be backed off enough to allow for a decent trigger pull and still engage the sear reliably.

Dont think I can put a Timney in it, as the trigger itself is just a touch different (shorter to account for the slimmer stock and closer trigger guard), but I'm thinking a spring replacement should work fairly well.

Any ideas? I can't locate springs.

Welcome to the forum daverp. rules are simple, be nice and join in.

Check with Brownells' they have a massive spring selection.

I think Jewel also makes a trigger for them. If you really want to get kinky Briley adaptor to an Anschutz two stage. But that gets in to a whole nightmare I would not wish on anybody. Since it is probably just a deer gun for your boy I agree with faucettb. Check out Brownells or Midway they should be able to fix you up. But if you do want to go crazy the sky is the limit. I have about 5000 in my "wife's" push feed model 70 in 243 (That does include a scope)
