Does anyone know of a factory rifle that comes with a peep sight or standard sight that could be converted easily. Id like it to be small light rifle maybe 308 or something similar.

Take a look at Brownell's web site. There is a good chance you can find just what your looking for there for the rifle of your choosing.

shouldn't cost much to get a williams peep put on pretty much any rifle, so just find a rifle that is already set up with a front sight, or for that matter, you can have that put on afterwords too

My old rem 700 is tapped to accept a receiver sight. A little stock work would probably be required but it looks to be a very easy modification. Maybe you can find an older 700 and check it out.

Last I knew cabelas kept a few peeps in stock. I know they had a tang sight to fit my marlin 1895. I know there are target peeps available that go on the rear bridge of a bolt action. You never know what can be found on the auction sites as well, you might find a nice old lyman.

New England Custom Guns makes a peep sight that will go onto a weaver or Ruger scope base.

In addition to Brownells and Cabelas, Midway USA has quite a selection of peep sights. A lot of folks like the Williams FP, and they make quite a few that just screw on to existing scope mount holes.
Another option.................CZ offers a peep sight for their rifles as well. I only learned this when I called their service dept regarding several questions I had about their FS rifles.
As mentioned in a post above, there is an after-market peep sight offered for the Ruger rifles that fits the integral mounts of the Rugers. Some time ago I had my Ruger .270 drilled for the Williams FP peep sight. It was a nice option to have and I had alot of fun shooting it using the peep sight.

You just described a Steyr Scout!
If I had spare couple thousand around, I'd try one myself.
I'd like to see just about every rifle come equipped with a peep sight, either as a primary or backup, but that's just me. At least go back to drilling and tapping for them.
But I guess they get in the way of the 4-16X, 50mm scope everyone "needs".

Are the current Savage rifles drilled and tapped for peep sights? My older one is, but I can't speak for any recent production.
I'd be curious if current Remington and the last-production Winchester bolt guns are/were set up for peep sights as well.
